Oh holy night- the birth, life death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ

When you are away from family or all your family has passed away it can leave you feeling alone during the holidays. Our society has made Christmas about family and shopping for the best gift. Rather the true reason for Chritstmas is to reflect on the birth, life and death of Jesus Christ. The conception of jesus was a miracle itself not to mention that God an all powerful infinite being decided to become human. It would be like me choosing to become an ant. CRAZY! It was a miracle Joseph was a God fearing man and believed the angel, that he didn’t follow society’s standard and stone mary. If Jesus hadn’t come, to show us the heart of God and to display how to live a Godly life, we would be still stuck in our sin. If Jesus hadn’t been obedient to the father, agreeing to die and disowned for us so that we could have fellowship, where would that leave us? We would be stuck in our sin, willingly sinning allowing the devil to have the upper hand or we would be tied to performing sacrifices for our sin, overwhelmed by guilt and the realization that we can never achieve God’s standard of righteousness. So Christmas isn’t just about Jesus it’s about the beginning of the redemption of mankind.

O Holy Night! The stars are brightly shining,
It is the night of the dear Saviour’s birth.
Long lay the world in sin and error pining.
Till He appeared and the Spirit felt its worth.
A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices,
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.
Fall on your knees! Oh, hear the angel voices!
O night divine, the night when Christ was born;
O night, O Holy Night , O night divine!
O night, O Holy Night , O night divine!

Led by the light of faith serenely beaming,
With glowing hearts by His cradle we stand.
O’er the world a star is sweetly gleaming,
Now come the wisemen from out of the Orient land.
The King of kings lay thus lowly manger;
In all our trials born to be our friends.
He knows our need, our weakness is no stranger,
Behold your King! Before him lowly bend!
Behold your King! Before him lowly bend!

Truly He taught us to love one another,
His law is love and His gospel is peace.
Chains he shall break, for the slave is our brother.
And in his name all oppression shall cease.
Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we,
With all our hearts we praise His holy name.
Christ is the Lord! Then ever, ever praise we,
His power and glory ever more proclaim!
His power and glory ever more proclaim!
